Pharmaceuticals in Coastal Waters: An UHPLC-TOF-MS Multi-Residue Approach

چکیده

Anthropogenic chemical contamination represents a key stressor of natural environments with pharmaceuticals comprising particular group emerging pollutants the potential to induce biological responses in non-target organisms. Therefore, an analytical method based on ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-TOF-MS) was developed for estuarine and seawaters, targeting 63 globally used (including amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim venlafaxine included Surface Water Watch List) from 8 therapeutic groups: antibiotics, analgesic, NSAIDs, antidepressants, β-blockers, lipid regulators, anticonvulsants antihypertensive drugs. The presents high selectivity sensitivity, limits detection ranging 0.01 8.92 ng/L quantification 0.02 29.73 ng/L. Considering precision, highest value achieved amoxicillin (20.9%) lower ofloxacin (2.6%), while recoveries ranged 80.6 112.6%. Overall, highly efficient multi-residues such complex environmental samples.

UHPLC-QTOF MS screening of pharmaceuticals and their metabolites in treated wastewater samples from Athens.

After consumption, pharmaceuticals are excreted as parent compounds and/or metabolites in urine and faeces. Some are not completely removed during wastewater treatments, forcing sewage treatment plants (STPs) to apply alternative technologies to guarantee quality of treated water. To monitor the removal efficiency of STPs, not only unchanged compounds and metabolites have to be taken into accou...

Study of the Glycosylated Secondary Metabolites in Tea (Camellia Sinensis L.) Using UHPLC/Q-TOF/MS

Glycosylation is widely involved in a series of biological events in plants and are believed to be beneficial to human health, but studies on this biological process are limited mainly due to the unavailability of a powerful analytical approach to identify the abundant and diverse glycosylated metabolites in plants. This application note describes a nontarget modification-specific metabolomics ...

UHPLC-ESI Accurate-Mass Q-TOF MS/MS Approaches for Characterizing the Metabolism and Bioavailability of Quercetin in Humans

The bioflavonoid quercetin occurs as a range of glycosides in foods, and the composition of these glycosides is species and cultivar specific. In humans, quercetin undergoes extensive phase II biotransformation, resulting in a complex mixture of metabolites. The bioactivity of the individual metabolites depends on the type and position of the conjugates formed during biotransformation. An Agile...

Determining Wine Authenticity: A Metabolomics Analysis Using UHPLC ESI/Q-TOF MS Authors

This application note demonstrates the advantages of using an Agilent 1290 Infinity LC system combined with the Agilent 6530 Q-TOF LC/MS and multivariate statistical analysis for metabolic profiling of wines. This resulted in the differentiation of wines from different geographical areas including France and China, and it potentially allows for the identification of wine biomarkers. Introductio...
